Eventually I’m going to refresh the outside of the Ranger. It’s currently Vermilion Red which I’m down with and would keep the same if I was to go the re-paint route. As far as quality I would spring for something in the middle of Macco and a bare-metal job. At that price point I could just as easily have it wrapped.

So what would Oppo do? If I wrapped, I’d go with a flat green slightly darker than BRG or a bright blue like the sweet ass Mazda above. Maybe even wilder like purple or something.

When in doubt, plastidip.

Wraps can cost as much or more than a paint job, certainly more than a Maaco basic job.  Problem with a wrap is you can’t touch up dings easily like with paint.  If you use your truck for any kind of truck things, I would think an inexpensive paint job is the better choice.

Eh.

I’d go with a cheap paint job BUT YOU DO THE PREP.

It will be a scuff-and-shoot job I’m sure. Prep is where corners will be cut.

I do truck things but that really just consists of putting things in the bed or the occasional tow. I’m super careful even now, just by nature (I’m anal about the condition/cleanliness of all of the vehicles). However, I was thinking the same thing about “dings” I feel like a tear in a wrap could happen a lot easier than a buffable scratch in paint, and that would drive me crazy if I spent 3-4k on it which is the ball park I have been quoted for a wrap/ middle of the road paint job.

i second plati-dip. If done right it can look good and be super cheap. I think someone on here plasti-dipped a Toyota like this:

so being a ford you could :

or

This is true

BUT

BUT

It depends on how well the paint job is done. Shit prep leads to bubbling or delamination. Hit a bump hard and your paint cracks. Etc.

Lots of people suggesting plasti dip. Might be the move for me.

Get it prepped and paint it yourself.

You can get a good quality job for less than $1k.
